Umbrail Pass is the highest paved road in Switzerland and has served as a key Alpine route since the late Middle Ages. Used by imperial and Napoleonic troops, the modern road was built in 1901 and fully paved in 2015. Today it’s a scenic and historic path popular with cyclists and adventurers.
